Rounded ends around an open center
An elongated form combines broad rounded ends with relatively straight stretches along the long sides. A raised perimeter surrounds the open center, giving the plate a continuous white frame without a separate decorative band. This outline works well when a dish has a clear direction: arrange one main item lengthwise, or set several smaller ingredients in a sequence. Leave a little of the center visible between elements so the presentation does not become one uninterrupted strip. The thirteen-and-three-quarter-inch length and four-and-one-quarter-inch width give the setting a clear long direction. Place a small sauce bowl beside the plate rather than on its surface when you want to keep that outline visible, and use a separate side dish for a second accompaniment.
