About this product

Material: Porcelain
Color: Stony black with a blue rim
Country of origin: Japan

Product Overview

A blue rim gives this stony-black porcelain sake cup a quiet contrast. Fine dark mottling covers the rounded body, and the same textured-looking finish continues into the interior. The restrained palette works well with dark sushi plates or a lighter place setting when you want a small, distinct accent beside the food.

Made in Japan, the KY8-BK cup is a single piece for building an individual sake setting. Pair it with a serving bottle and a small plate for a compact arrangement, or mix it with other colors in the KY8 cup form to vary the table without changing the overall silhouette.

A rim that frames the pour

A narrow blue band traces the opening, setting it apart from the dark, mottled body. The gently rounded sides keep the shape simple so the color change at the edge becomes the focal detail.

Mottled detail inside and out

The overhead view reveals the dark flecking across the cup interior as well as the blue edge. Leave this small piece as an accent beside plain plates, or echo its darker tones with black and charcoal tableware.

Coordinate the setting by shape

The upright, rounded form makes a neat companion to a sake bottle and a small serving plate. Related KY8 cups offer a similar silhouette in other finishes, so a coordinated setting can still have variation from seat to seat.
