Product Overview

Prepare and season sushi rice in the 15¼-inch HK39-N Momi fir tub. Made in Japan, this round sushi oke has a broad wooden base, upright sides and an open top that keeps the rice within easy reach of a paddle.

The HK39-N is the widest option in the four-size HK-N range. Match its diameter to the room on your preparation counter, with space alongside for seasoning and utensils. One tub is supplied; paddles and other accessories are sold separately.

Fold seasoning through cooked rice

Use the open wooden tub to spread cooked rice and fold in seasoning with a rice paddle. The low sides leave room to work around the rice without a lid or handle crossing the opening.

Use a light cutting-and-folding motion rather than pressing the rice into the base. Keep the paddle and seasoning beside the tub so the preparation area stays organized.

The 15¼-inch diameter makes this the widest choice in the HK-N Momi fir range. Check the circular footprint against your worktop and leave space to move a paddle around the rim.

Choose among the 11¾-, 13-, 14- and 15¼-inch HK-N tubs to suit your setup. These are separate tub sizes; the rice, paddle and surrounding preparation accessories shown are not included.

Care for the wooden tub

Hand-wash the tub after use and wipe away excess water. Clean the wooden interior gently, then allow it to dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated place before storing.

Keep the tub away from prolonged soaking and direct heat. Natural wood grain and color can vary, so care for the surface gently rather than scrubbing it with an abrasive tool.
