Straight edges around an open center
A clearly defined outer edge borders the open rectangular center. The ends lift gently, and the low base gives the plate a separate outline above the tabletop. Keep the food arrangement aligned with the long axis when you want a simple, ordered presentation. A row of individual bites can leave a white margin at each side, while a compact grouping near one end creates room for a separate garnish. Set the plate parallel to the table edge for a formal arrangement or turn it slightly toward the diner for an individual course. Place utensils alongside the plate so they do not interrupt the clean serving area.
