Design & Structure

: Following the signature rectangular-base flask (tokkuri) and cylindrical cups (ochoko) layout, this ensemble balances geometric modernism with traditional motifs. The hourglass neck of the bottle allows for a comfortable grip and a steady pour.

Color & Texture (Midnight Sapphire Blue)

: The set is coated in a rich, glossy midnight blue / sapphire glaze that evokes the depth of a starry night sky or deep ocean waters. The surface features sublte crystalline speckling that enhances the visual depth of the porcelain.

Symbolic Motif (Dragonfly / Tombo)

: Each piece is adorned with a stylized brown-and-gold dragonfly (tombo) emblem embossed onto the front. In Japanese folklore, the dragonfly is a revered symbol of victory, agility, and forward-moving strength, often associated with samurai culture.

Suggested Use

: Perfect for accentuating premium, crisp, and fruity sakes like chilled Junmai Daiginjo, adding an elegant and cultural storytelling element to your home bar setup.

Product Overview

The BD7-N carries a small dragonfly motif across a tall square-bodied bottle and four ceramic cups. Light flecks stand out against the midnight-blue glaze, with warm-colored wings providing a distinct accent on the front of each piece.

The bottle’s angular body rises to a short narrow neck and flared mouth, while the cups repeat the decoration on curved walls. Together they form a five-piece setting that combines a geometric bottle shape with an illustrated motif rather than a plain two-tone finish.

BD7-N midnight-blue ceramic bottle and four cups with dragonfly motifs

Face the small motifs toward the setting

The dragonfly sits on the front of the bottle and each cup rather than forming an all-over printed pattern. Spacing the cups around the bottle leaves the individual motifs visible without hiding them behind another piece.

Dragonfly Decoration

A warm-colored motif accents the midnight-blue glaze.

Five-Piece Format

One square-bodied bottle and four cylindrical cups.

Light Speckling

Small pale flecks add contrast across the dark surface.

Use the different shapes as part of the arrangement

The bottle’s broad flat sides present the decoration differently from the curved cup walls. Keep the tall bottle behind or beside the lower cups so both silhouettes remain clear in the setting.

Compare decoration as well as the component format

Other BD7 sets keep the same square-bodied bottle and four-cup format with different finishes. This version adds a dragonfly motif, while the black-and-grey BD7-KI offers an unpainted two-tone alternative.
