Cooking fluffy delicious rice is as easy as pushing a button with the JNP-S18HU by Tiger of Japan. Electronic control heating makes better rice. It steam-cooks up to 10 cups of rice to perfection, then keeps it warm up to 12 hours without drying or burning the rice. Advanced cooking features such as surround heating for even cooking and a Thermal Read Switch to precisely control the temperature and steam flow. The Nonstick PTFE inner pan can be easily cleaned and the cord retracts for storage. Water level marks on the inner surface of the inner pot ensure the amount of water added. Indicator lights show whether cooking or warming mode is in use. This Heavy duty unit is built to last. Includes 1 measuring cup and 1 rice ladle.

Product Overview

Tiger’s JNP-S18HU suits cooks who want a conventional rice cooker and automatic warmer instead of programmable Micom menus. Its model-specific uncooked-rice capacity should be measured with the supplied rice cup; it is not a cooked-serving count. The cooking switch and indicator lights keep everyday operation direct.

The Tiger JNP-S18U in Urban Satin, listed here as JNP-S18HU, is a Japanese-made conventional rice cooker and warmer. It cooks 3–10 supplied cups of uncooked white rice, or 0.54–1.8 liters. The included measure holds approximately 0.18 liter; this capacity is not a cooked serving count.

A single front switch starts the heating-plate cooking cycle. The cooker automatically changes to Keep Warm when the switch releases. Leave the lid closed for the final steaming step before opening, fluffing and serving the rice. Separate cooking and holding indicator lights show the operating state.

Keep Warm is limited to 12 hours for white rice, including rinse-free white rice. Keep the lid latched, remove grains from the pot rim and serve small quantities promptly. Do not use holding to heat cold rice, mix cold rice into the pot or leave the spatula inside.

The JNP-S18U uses an aluminum inner pot with fluorocarbon-resin nonstick coating. Wash rice in a separate bowl before transferring it to the pot and matching water scale. The inner lid, steam vent and dew collector remove for care. Clean every part by hand after use; do not put the pot or other parts in a dishwasher or dryer.

The current S-series manufacturer page lists an approximate footprint of 11.8 inches wide by 11.0 inches deep and a closed-lid height of 11.7 inches. This model is rated at 650W on 120V / 60Hz. Use an outlet rated at least 15A without other devices connected at the same time, and leave at least 30 centimeters from walls and furniture.

The retractable cord and carrying handle help with storage and moving the cooled cooker. A rice measure, spatula and holder are identified in the manufacturer documentation. The warming circuit operates whenever the unit is plugged in without cooking selected, so unplug it when not in use. Tiger specifies household use.

The JNP-S18HU cooking control uses one switch rather than a menu selector. Start the prepared white-rice batch with the switch; automatic release changes the appliance to warming. Keep the lid closed through the final steaming step before fluffing the rice.

Use the included approximately 0.18-liter rice measure and stay within this model’s 3–10-cup uncooked white-rice range. Follow the water scale, wash rice in a separate bowl and dry the pot exterior before cooking. After changeover to Keep Warm, the manual calls for a final closed-lid steaming period before fluffing. The 12-hour holding limit applies to white rice. Do not use Keep Warm for cold, mixed or seasoned rice, and serve very small amounts promptly. The cooker has a conventional switch; it does not provide the timer appointments, separate rice menus or Reheat program found on the Micom and induction models.
