Broad strokes and broken bands
Brown strokes sweep around the grey exterior and continue as broken bands inside the bowl. The mottled grey ground and uneven edges keep the decoration from reading as a uniform stripe. The broad exterior stroke has a rounded, uneven end, while separated brown arcs leave pale grey visible inside. This irregular brown-on-grey pattern distinguishes M578-N from the plain interior of JX58-B or the white surface of A1359.
