A defined well with outward-sloping walls
The angled view makes the continuous rectangular well and outward-sloping walls easy to follow. Softly rounded corners connect the straight sides, and the lower base sits beneath the open white interior. This outline gives a small accompaniment a clear boundary within a larger place setting. Use the center for one condiment when the meal calls for a simple dipping station, or arrange a few pieces of garnish so their color is visible against the white ceramic. Position the dish beside, rather than on top of, the main plate to preserve the separate serving areas. Its long and short sides also let you align the dish with a rectangular tray or turn it toward the person using it.
