A recessed center framed by gentle slopes
A rectangular center, softened corners and a sloping transition to a narrow raised edge define the dish. The lower base is visible beneath the front, while the uninterrupted white surface leaves the condiment or garnish as the focus. This is a useful format when the main plate already carries a composed dish and the sauce needs a separate place. Set the long side parallel to a dinner plate for an orderly setting, or turn it slightly toward the diner to distinguish the dipping area. For a dry garnish, arrange the pieces along the center rather than across the rim. Keep the surrounding tabletop clear so the small dish is easy to identify and reach.
