​​Why is Induction Heating Better?

Induction Heating, or IH technology generates high heat and makes fine heat adjustments which result in fluffier rice. Compared to a heating element on a micom rice cooker, it heats faster and cools faster, to make finer heat adjustments while cooking. Only with the right sequence of on and off is rice cooked to perfection.

The Zojirushi NW-QAC18 is a Black household induction-heating rice cooker and warmer with a maximum uncooked white-rice capacity of 10 supplied rice cups, or 1.8 liters. Its IH system heats a thick spherical inner pan with double nonstick coating. The flat top, integrated steam vent and flat interior frame simplify the surfaces and parts used for routine cleaning.

White, quick white, sushi, Jasmine and Quick Jasmine batches range from 1 to 10 supplied rice cups. Separate settings cover mixed rice, sweet rice, congee, brown and GABA Brown rice, steel cut oatmeal and quinoa. Measure uncooked ingredients with the supplied approximately 180 mL cup and follow each menu’s water line and batch limits. The maximum white-rice rating is not a cooked yield or serving count.

The included steaming tray works with a separate Steam program adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes, with a 40-minute default. The timer includes water heat-up. Add the manual’s stated water amount, distribute food evenly and keep it below the tray’s MAX line. Remove steamed food when cooking finishes; Steam does not operate Keep Warm.

Regular Keep Warm allows up to 12 hours for eligible rice, while Extended allows up to 24 hours for white, quick white, sushi, Jasmine and Quick Jasmine rice. Brown and GABA Brown use Regular only. Do not hold mixed rice, congee, steel cut oatmeal, quinoa or sweet rice in Keep Warm. Reheat warms already-warm white rice within its pan-level limit; it is not for cold rice or other foods.

An LCD panel provides a 24-hour clock, two finish-time memories for eligible menus and melody, beep or mute notifications. The inner lid detaches for washing, the power cord detaches from the cooker and the supplied spatula stands upright. A water-only Self-Cleaning cycle helps reduce lingering odors; normal washing and wiping are still required.

The NW-QAC18 requires AC 120V, 60Hz power and is rated at 1,310W for cooking, with a 1.1-meter cord. Approximate dimensions are 10-3/8 inches wide by 13-3/8 inches deep by 9 inches high, with 19-5/8 inches needed for the open lid. Provide room for steam and keep the bottom air ducts clear. Zojirushi lists cETLus certification and manufacture in Japan. Loosen rice at completion and allow at least 45 minutes of cooling before another rice batch.
