Product Overview

The YM4 brings a small bamboo sushi mat and a short rice spatula together in one package. The mat’s closely arranged slats are joined with pale cords so it can open flat for assembly and curve around the ingredients as you shape a roll.

The mat measures 7 × 5¼ inches, with a 5½-inch spatula sized for the same compact preparation area. Use the paddle for placing rice and the mat for rolling, keeping a separate cutting board nearby for the finished sushi. This set is made in China.

Keep rice placement and rolling together

Set out the mat and paddle before adding the rice. The short spatula lets you transfer rice onto the nori while the mat stays flat underneath, ready for the filling.

Arrange the ingredients within the mat’s working area and leave room for the nori to close. Lift the near edge gently to guide the roll into shape, then release the mat instead of trapping it inside the sushi.

Choose the compact two-piece format

The 7 × 5¼-inch measurement describes the mat, while 5½ inches is the spatula’s length. This is a smaller format than a 9½-inch-square mat and gives you both preparation pieces in one set.

Check your preferred nori size and portion against the mat’s footprint before assembling. The small paddle can stay beside the rolling surface, leaving the rest of the worktop free for ingredients and a cutting board.

Wash, dry and store with care

Hand wash the bamboo pieces after use with mild dish detergent and a soft sponge. Remove rice from between the slats, rinse promptly and avoid leaving the set soaking in water.

Air dry the mat and spatula completely before storing them. Keep knives on a separate cutting board and check the bamboo and binding cords before the next use; set aside any piece with loose strands or splinters.
