1 · Artwork and release

Production starts with the approved proof and file, not the latest email attachment.

The proof confirms the content, face orientation, print colors and chopstick format. The production file supplies the geometry needed to print and form the sleeve.

Artwork review timing

2 · Plate making

The plate is the physical bridge between approved art and repeated impressions.

ERS creates custom printing plates. Prepress separates the approved design by print color and preserves the relationship between color, face, orientation and job identity as the physical tooling is prepared.

Each approved print color must remain identifiable through separation, plate making and setup. This diagram shows the sequence; it is not a plate drawing or a statement about the type of press used.

Before a plate reaches the press

  • Confirm the artwork revision and face orientation.
  • Confirm each separation contains only its assigned image.
  • Identify tooling to the job, face and print color.
  • Check fine type, reverses, rules and other vulnerable details at physical scale.
  • Keep superseded tooling or files out of the active job set.

What “setup” means

Setup is the work needed to establish a new or changed print configuration. The current charges are $60 one-color setup and $85.00 two-color setup. A setup charge does not, by itself, tell a buyer how long a supplier retains plates or when replacement tooling may be needed.

3 · Paper, ink and press setup

The first acceptable impression is established before routine production continues.

Paper, plate, ink and the approved proof converge at setup. The operator brings the impression into the expected position and appearance, then records acceptance before treating the run as routine output.

4 · Printing and handling

Quality has to remain stable after the approved setup sample.

A good first impression does not prove an entire run. In-process checks protect against changes in image, position, ink transfer, contamination or material behavior as printing continues.

Keep the correct job, plate set, paper and ink assignment at the press. Mixed or obsolete materials create an identity failure even when an individual impression looks clean.

Compare recurring samples with the accepted setup piece for content, placement, color relationship, fill, fine detail and unwanted marks.

Protect the surface

Handle printed paper so stacked, wound or transferred material does not smear, offset, scuff or contaminate the face before forming.

What buyers should ask

When comparing suppliers, ask how an accepted first piece is maintained through the run and how suspect output is isolated. “We inspect quality” is less useful than a named setup gate, in-process check, hold rule and final release record.

5 · Forming, assembly and packing

Printing makes the graphic; conversion makes the restaurant service item.

Accepted printed paper must be oriented and formed around the specified chopsticks, then the finished pairs must be counted and packed without losing design identity or physical integrity. The printed paper is formed around the chopsticks in one form-and-assemble stage; there is no separate insertion stage. These are requirements of the finished product, not a statement that ERS performs every downstream step at one facility.

Ask what an inspection plan actually covers

A sample size or acceptable-quality limit is useful only when the supplier also defines the production lot, inspection timing, defect categories, acceptance criteria and action taken after a failure. This reference does not publish a universal sampling rule because those details depend on the documented production specification and order requirements.

7 · Reorders and revision continuity

A reorder should point to the exact approved design and product.

A restaurant name is not enough. The new purchase must match the correct artwork revision, chopstick format, print colors and current production specification.

The current unchanged-artwork rule does not guarantee that a physical plate is retained indefinitely. When plate availability affects price or timing, confirm whether the existing tooling can be reused and whether a material or product change requires replacement.

A restaurant can check product identity, print and condition at receiving.

Receiving checks should preserve evidence before stock is distributed across locations or mixed with an earlier lot.
